Further reducing our carbon footprint
14 April 2021
These past few months have pushed us to look at our race and challenge everything that we do. The Royal Parks Half has put sustainability front and centre since the very beginning. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved so far and now we’re beyond excited to be taking things one massive step further.
From this point onwards, we’ll be asking all of our runners to be self-sufficient with their hydration whilst out running or on course at the #RoyalParksHalf. This means that at future editions of the event (when we’re back running together in person), we’ll be able to permanently and significantly reduce all waste associated with water stations, including plastic bottles and biodegradable cup.
For the April event, we’re taking the first big step to help our runners prepare for this, so all runners will be sent an eco-friendly, reusable water bottle to use as they take on their 13.1-mile challenge in their local area. These bottles are being provided by our presenting partner, RBC. The 500ml bottle is sustainably sourced and is made of 100% biobased material from sugarcane.
As we face up to a Global climate emergency together - it’s so important that individually and collectively we do our bit to reduce the environmental impact that we all have. We hope that you will join us on this journey
