Race Day: 09 October 2022

Can I leave a bag at the event?

For the 2021 race, we have a limited bag drop provision available. We are kindly asking that runners ONLY use the bag drop if they have no other option for storing belongings on race day. If you are coming to the event with friends and family, and can leave bags with them, please do so. This will help us ensure that all runners that have no alternative option but to use bag drop can do so.

If you do need to drop a bag, you have two options:

 1. Drop a bag between 10:00am – 16:00pm on Saturday 9 October at our baggage marquee in the finish village (Hyde Park).

 2. Drop a bag between 07:00am – 08:00am on Sunday 10 October at our baggage marquee in the finish village (Hyde Park). PLEASE NOTE: If you choose this option, you WILL be required to head to the finish village the morning of the race, and then walk from there to the start line. This is an approx. 30 minute walk and you will be responsible for getting to your wave start on-time.

All bags will need to be pre-booked ahead of race day and this provision will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

We kindly ask that you do NOT leave bags unattended at the event on race day as this will pose a substantial security risk. If you do leave bags unattended, they will be removed from the event.

Why is there a limited provision for bag drop?

To ensure we can carry out a socially distanced race, if required, we made the decision to change the location of the start for the first time in the race’s history. Excitingly, this means all our runners get to start on one of the world’s most iconic roads – The Mall. However, it also creates logistical challenges when it comes to other aspects of the race.

One of these challenges is race day bag drop. We understand the importance of being able to drop some of your belongings at the race finish. However, due to the split start and finish locations, we cannot logistically move 16,000 people from Hyde Park to The Green Park and guarantee that the race starts on time. We also don’t have the space to offer a full bag drop at the race start. We have been working through a variety of scenarios for several months and ultimately, based on the hugely challenging position we are in this year, the best we can do is offer Saturday bag drop, with a very limited provision on Sunday, at the finish.

How do I pre-book baggage?

You can pre-book your bag now following these steps:

  • Log into your console via this link
  • On the left hand side, click 'Pre Book Baggage'
  • Choose between Saturday bag drop and Sunday bag drop
  • Read the baggage requirements and book your bag

Where is the bag drop located?

The bag drop owill be located in Hyde Park. Click here to see the village map and bag drop location.

Do I need to bring anything with me to drop off a bag?

Once you have booked a bag, we will email you closer to the event with confirmation of your booking. Please bring this confirmation email with you and show it to staff at the bag drop area.

What happens when I check in my bag?

When you check in your bag, you will be given two matching wristbands - one for your bag and one for your wrist so we can match you up later (this will NOT be the same as your race number). Please ensure you put this on your wrist and keep it on, as you will need it to be able to collect your bag after you cross the finish line. There will be security at bag drop overnight, but any bags left will be done so at owner’s risk.
