The Royal Parks Half Marathon, presented by Royal Bank of Canada will be taking place on Sunday, 13 October 2019. It will be necessary to close roads and cycle paths in the Westminster area in order to facilitate the route preparations for the event to take place. All closures have been agreed in advance with The Royal Parks, Westminster City Council and Transport for London.
Please see the below chart for roads closed during the event between 03:30 and 12:30 on Sunday, 13 October, timings vary across the route but it is advisable to avoid these areas between these times as far as possible.
The following roads will also be closed within Hyde Park:
Please note that parking, taxi bays and Santander bikes in the above listed areas will also be affected by the event.
The following tube closures are in place for the duration of Saturday 12 – Sunday 13 October:

Bus diversionary routes will be in place. Please check the TfL website for further detail on this.
Pedestrian access around the route will be limited in some areas due to course infrastructure and runner flow. Throughout the event our stewards will help you to cross the route when it is safe to do so. Please listen to their guidance for yours and participant safety.
Specific areas with challenging pedestrian access which we suggest you avoid include, but are not limited to:
- The pavement in front of Hyde Park Barracks on South Carriage Drive – this will be closed between 07:00 – 15:00 and pedestrians will be redirected by our steward team.
- At key points in the day there are significant challenges around Trafalgar Square when every road around Trafalgar Square is in use for the event. The Charing Cross underpass is available for crossing The Strand close by.
- The area in front of Buckingham Palace and The Mall will be busy between 0900hrs and 1100hrs.
- Paths throughout Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens will be heavily impacted by runners and we would suggest avoiding the area until 14:00 on Sunday 13 October 2019.
