Every participant in our Half Marathon receives a soft, breathable running shirt made from sustainable bamboo and recycled polyester. Each year, the back of this shirt features an inspirational design and we’re looking to find an exciting new design to take to the streets of London on Sunday, October 7, 2012.
The Prize
The winning creative will be proudly worn by thousands of runners taking part in the Half Marathon and Pulse3K, a race for 11-16 year olds. Entries will be judged by a panel of experts including, the Royal Parks Foundation Chief Executive, Ben Fogle and Nell McAndrew.
The chosen designer will also win two coveted Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon race places for the 2012 event, a magnum of Champagne and two VIP invitations to rub shoulders with the stars in the exclusive hospitality tent in the festival village.
More about the Race Shirts
Enjoyed by many, these unique running shirts are not only soft and comfortable and eye catching, but they offer distinct performance properties for runners such as high absorbency, quick dry, deodorising and thermal regulation.
Combining the natural benefits of eco-friendly bamboo charcoal with the man-made resilience of recycled polyester, made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, offers some environmental benefits too. Bamboo plants grow successfully without any fertilisers or pesticides and unlike other endurance shirts, this unique fabric is not treated with chemicals so its performance properties last forever.
The Rules
As 2012 is a momentous year in the British Calendar we’d like the design to reflect this exciting British year of sport and Royal occasion and take inspiration from the theme 'Best of British'. In addition, 2012 is also our five year anniversary, which is usually acknowledged with a gift of wood.
New designs need to conform to the following constraints:
